Gathering our culinary inspiration by drawing a circle on the map around the Mediterranean sea, we took our name from the Roman goddess of the hearth to invoke not only the region, but the magical spirit that for thousands of years has united the elements of flour, water, salt and fire.

How long have you been in business?
We started Vesta at the beginning of 2010. Beforehand we were part owners of Arizmendi Bakery in Emervyille for 5 years. Together we have 30 years collective experience in the food industry.
What is your primary product or service?
Mediterranean-inspired sandwiches, salads and pastries.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We represent foods of the Mediterranean that rarely make their way onto menus in the U.S. Many of our flavors originate in North Africa and cultures based in the Eastern Med. We use primarily local and organic ingredients. Our partnership is based on collective principals we learned while working at the Arizmendi Cooperative.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently sell our food at farmers markets, special events and private parties. We hope to expand into our own restaurant in the coming year.

The best place to catch us on a regular basis is the Oakland Grand Lake market, Saturday 9am-2pm. The market is at the corner of Grand Ave and Lake Park, adjacent to Lake Merritt.
